Havana Airport or José Martí International Airport is home to airlines Cubana and Aerogaviota. Upon arrival, please note that waiting for your luggage can take a long time. When flying out of Havana Airport it is recommended to be at the airport well in advance. Taking a taxi about 3.5 hours before departure from Havana to the airport is a safe choice. Havana Airport (José Martí) does not have an official website.
Cuba is one of the safest countries in the world to visit, however the situation in the country is very uncertain due to a political and economic crisis, as well as the corona pandemic. Until January 1, 2021, the Peso cubano convertible (CUC) was legal tender, now the Cuban peso (CUP) is the only currency in Cuba. At the money exchange offices run by the state you get 24 CUP for 1 USD and 26 CUP for 1 EUR. On the black market, the exchange rate is much more favourable and you can get up to 100 Cuban pesos for 1 USD / 1 EUR (as of February 2022). At Havana Airport there are only official exchange offices with an unfavourable exchange rate. Keep in mind it’s not possible to exchange Cuban pesos for dollars or euros and that you cannot pay with CUP anywhere at the airport.

The airport is named after national hero José Martí and located southwest of the Cuban capital. The Autopista Nacional A1 and Autopista Nacional Este-Oeste A4 motorways are located near the airport.
How many terminals does Havana Airport have?
The airport has three terminals that are used for passenger flights, which are called Terminal 1 (Domestic), Terminal 2 (American charters among others) and Terminal 3 (International). Terminal 3 is the largest and most modern terminal with two floors, the upper floor for Departures and ground floor for Arrivals. T1 is the oldest terminal, located at some distance from T2 and T3. The fastest way to travel from Terminal 1 to one of the other two terminals is by taking a taxi, walking is not recommended. Between Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 a journey by car takes about 5 minutes, the price for a taxicab is 5 USD.
