Train Express Rail Link to Kuala Lumpur – BUY TICKETS

The fastest and most comfortable way to get from the terminals KLIA(1) and KLIA2 to Kuala Lumpur is by Express Rail Link ERL. You can choose between KLIA Ekspres and KLIA Transit trains, both will get you to the main railway station Kuala Lumpur Sentral. This station is located south of the Perdana Botanical Gardens. The KLIA Ekspres train takes about 30 minutes and does not make any stops along the way. The KLIA Transit train stops at three stations (Salak Tinggi, Putrajaya/Cyberjaya, Bandar Tasik Selatan) before reaching the end station which results in a journey time that is about 5 to 10 minutes longer.

Between 05:00 hours and 01:00 hours a train departs in the direction of KL Sentral about every 15 minutes. Regardless of the terminal that you use to board a train, you will pay a fixed fee of 55 MYR (12 euros) for a one-way ticket. The price for children from 2 years up to 12 years is 25 MYR (5 euros). Public transportation from KL Sentral

From the ‘transit hub’ KL Sentral you can continue your travel to reach the centre of the city either by taxi or public transportation, operated by Rapid KL. You can choose between the LRT Light Rail Transit, MRT Mass Rapid Transit and KL Monorail. The light rail LRT (3 lines) and MRT subway are the ones most frequently used. The monorail operates less frequently making it less popular. LRT Kelana Jaya Line 5 in the direction of Gombak, takes just 12 minutes to take you to KLCC near Petronas Twin Towers. The hotels, restaurants and many shops in Bukit Bintang can be reached using MRT Sungai Buloh-Kajang (SBK) Line 9 and KL Monorail Line 8. The monorail station of Bukit Bintang is sponsored by Malaysian airline AirAsia. The station of MRT Sungai Buloh-Kajang Line 9 next to KL Sentral is called Muzium Negara (National Museum).

You can buy tickets, in other words tokens, from vending machines at the stations. The prices differ, expect to pay between 2 MYR and 3 MYR for a one-way journey. Having a couple of 1 MYR and 5 MYR notes on you will come in handy here. At Masjid Jamed, which is two stops away from KL Sentral on the light rail LRT, you can transfer to two other LRT lines. LRT Ampang Line 3 and LRT Sri Petaling Line 4 are mainly used by locals. The public transportation system in Kuala Lumpur, including the buses, offer a variety of options but are not the most efficient means of transportation to visitors. Free buses in Kuala Lumpur

In the centre of Kuala Lumpur, you can take advantage of the free bus service named Go KL City Bus. There are four routes that will take you to different directions in Kuala Lumpur. The bus services are operated by Rapid KL and are aptly named Go Relax, Go Work, Go Sightsee and Go Shopping. Buses depart every 5 to 10 minutes between 06:00 hours and 23:00 hours, and are popular among both locals and tourists. Trains departing from KL Sentral

At the ‘transit hub’ KL Sentral you can transfer to regional trains operated by KTM Komuter. KTM Seremban Line 1 for instance will take you to the Batu Caves. KTM Port Klang Line 2 departs in the southern direction towards Klang (50 minutes) and Port Klang (70 minutes). Port Klang is the largest container terminal in Malaysia, larger than Port of Tanjung Pelepas which is further south, near the border with Singapore. From KL Sentral railway station you can also take an intercity train to travel to other parts in the country like Malacca City, Ipoh and George Town on the island of Penang (Butterworth Station).

The impressive Batu Caves, Malaysia’s most sacred Hindu Temple, is a popular attraction located north of Kuala Lumpur. You can get there by KTM Komuter train or bus. Alternatively, you can book a private tour to the Batu Caves.
