General information

London Stansted Airport is a major international airport northeast of London, it is the largest base of low-cost carrier Ryanair. The airport has one terminal and one runway. Stansted Express operated by Greater Anglia is the fastest way to travel between the airport and London. Another nearby city is Cambridge, a world-famous university town.

Where is Londen Stansted Airport situated?

London Stansted Airport is located northeast of London, close to the M11 motorway. If approaching from the direction of London, use Junction 8a. If approaching from the direction of Cambridge, it is better to take Junction 8. After both exits, follow the signs for the airport.

How many terminals does London Stansted Airport have?

The airport consists of one terminal without gates and three satellite terminals with gates. The Stansted Airport Transit System connects Satellite 1 (gates 1-19) and Satellite 2 (gates 20-39) to the main building. From Satellite 2 you can also go on foot, from Satellite 3 (Ryanair) walking is your only option. In the public part of the terminal you can find the Arrivals hall (International Arrivals) on the right and the security check on the left, the check-in desks are located in the middle (Zone 500, A to F, G and H Outsized Baggage). Upon arrival, you will have to go down one floor for the bus station and down two floors for the airport’s railway station. A new Arrivals Terminal will open between the terminal and Radisson Blu Hotel London Stansted Airport in 2027. The current terminal will then change to Departures Terminal.
