Public transport

Bus to Maastricht, Sittard and Aachen

Bus line 30, operated by Arriva, runs between the railway stations of Maastricht and Sittard. The bus stop ‘M-A-Airport, Moorveld/Beek’ is about halfway, it is located close to the terminal building. The journey time to the train station in Maastricht is 25 minutes, it takes 42 minutes to arrive in Sittard. Unfortunately, there is no better (quicker) connection to and from Maastricht Aachen Airport by public transport. On weekdays bus line 30 runs twice an hour, on Saturdays and Sundays once per hour.

The price for a bus ticket is € 6.00 (Ritkaart Limburg streek), a maximum of two children from 4 up to 11 years can travel for free when accompanied by an adult. A rechargeable OV-chipkaart is cheaper than a single regional ticket, i.e. € 3.67 for the route Maastricht Aachen Airport – Maastricht and € 4.49 for the route Maastricht Aachen Airport – Sittard. The airport advises travellers to plan their journey through the website 9292.nl. If you want to travel to cities like Eindhoven, Nijmegen or Arnhem it is wiser to travel via Sittard instead of Maastricht, because of the more northern location of Sittard.

Aachen Hauptbahnhof, Germany
Aachen is not directly accessible from the airport, you have to change at Maastricht railway station. Bus line 350 will take you in 60 minutes from Maastricht CS to Aachen Hauptbahnhof. The price for a single ticket is € 8.10 (Dal Dagkaart Limburg Bus) or € 10.90 (Dagkaart Limburg Bus). Buses run every 30 minutes from Monday to Sunday. Nowadays, there is also a direct train between Maastricht and Aachen operated by Arriva, the journey time is 50 minutes. Please consult website Arriva for more information.
