General information

The island of Madeira, together with the islands of Porto Santo, Ilhas Desertas and Ilhas Selvagens, is one of the two autonomous regions of Portugal. The main airport of the Portuguese archipelago is Madeira Airport.

In March 2017 the airport was named after Cristiano Ronaldo, one of the best footballers in the world was born in Funchal in 1985. Besides, Madeira Airport offers one of the most spectacular approaches in the world by plane.
