In 2006 Marseille Airport opened as the first airport in Europe a terminal dedicated to low-cost flights: MP2 (Marseille Provence 2). Terminal 1 has been expanded and modernised in recent years, the renovated terminal opened its doors in May 2024. Terminal 1 has a modern appearance and a capacity of 12 million passengers per year.
