Train to Marseille
The city centre of Marseille can be reached by public transport. Trains depart from railway station Vitrolles Aéroport Marseille Provence. You can get there with the shuttle bus (Lebus+ L13, € 1.20 per person) that runs from platform 5 of the bus station ‘Gare Routière’ a short distance from terminals MP1 and MP2. The buses leave every 10 to 15 minutes from Marseille Airport, the short ride takes 5 minutes. If you want to go from the train station to Marseille Airport, you can request a shuttle transfer via the intercom. Keep in mind that it can take a long time before you are picked up. Direct and indirect trains depart from the railway station to Marseille Gare St Charles, travel time by train is 15 to 20 minutes.
Train tickets
A train ticket costs € 6.20 and is available from the ticket desk and ticket machines at the airport, besides you can buy a train ticket with your smartphone. Special rates apply for children. At Marseille’s main railway station you can transfer to a city bus or the metro (M1 and M2). There are also three tram lines in Marseille, namely T1, T2 and T3 of Tramway de Marseille. Bus to Aix-en-Provence
Aix-en-Provence, the other large city in the vicinity of the airport, is also accessible by bus. Unfortunately, there are no direct trains to Aix-en-Provence. Bus line 40 leaves from platform 3 close to Terminal 1 (MP1) and Terminal 2 (MP2) via Aix – Gare TGV, Pôle d’activités and Plan d’Aillane to the main bus station of Aix-en-Provence (Gare Routière). Travel time from the airport to the city is at least 30 minutes.
The large railway station Aix – Gare TGV is situated halfway between Marseille Airport and Aix-en-Provence. The bus leaves every half hour in both directions. The price per ticket is € 10.00 for a single journey, you can buy tickets from the ticket counter at the airport’s bus station ‘Gare Routière’. L91 Navette Marseille Aéroport to Marseille
If you prefer a direct transfer to the centre of Marseille, you can choose for bus line 91 Navette Marseille Aéroport. This bus service departs at least every 20 minutes to and from the central station Marseille Gare St Charles. The bus leaves from platform 6 at a short distance from both terminals, the journey takes about half an hour. Prices for the bus can be found below, youth from 12 up to 25 years pay only € 7.00 per single journey.
