I found the treatment we received at Menorca airport very unfair.
My boyfriend and I were carrying a backpack (we paid €50), within what we consider permitted. However, even though we were acting politely and correctly, they made us check the backpack and demanded an additional payment. However, a man behind us, in the same situation, managed to avoid paying by acting aggressively: he emptied his backpack and put his belongings in his coat, and in the end, they didn't ask him to pay or check his luggage.
I feel wronged by this difference in treatment: being civil and following the rules, we were fined, while the one who acted rudely got an advantage.
I don't expect anything back, but I do think the staff should be trained to apply the rules fairly and equally for all passengers.
I hope other travelers don't go through the same thing.

Mahon Airport departures area seating is disgusting & dirty. There was garbage/food waste on seats/floor in area of Gates 1A/1B/2/3, September 30, 2023, 15:45

In general I am fine with the airport. Just last time I had a discussion with the guy at the security check (I know ….. never discuss with these guys) and he made me separate my standard electric shawer ….. what I never have been told to do in a couple of hundred flights in the last 20 years. It was less the fact than the way he acted. “Menorcan way” at its worst. Very unpleasant experience
