Airport car parking

Travelling to and from the airport by car has many advantages. For example, you are not dependent on public transport and inevitable delays. The car is especially a logical choice when you arrive or depart in the early morning or late at night because at these times there are just a few or no public transport options.

If you are thinking about driving to the airport, you have various options concerning airport parking. First of all, it’s wise to think about the following questions; are you being dropped off at the airport or are you driving to the airport in your own car? Do you want to park your car yourself or would you rather leave it for someone else to do this for you? These are some of the questions you might want to think about before you fly away to your holiday or business trip. It’s wise to reserve a parking space at the airport as early as possible. In general, the sooner you book, the cheaper your parking spot will be.

Airport car parking at international airports

Nowadays, almost every traveller chooses to arrange their airport car parking space online, before they travel to the airport. This is not only more convenient but also a lot cheaper. Usually, an indoor parking space close to the terminal is more expensive, and an outdoor parking space on a car park at a larger distance from the terminal is cheaper. The cheapest parking spaces at major airports can usually be found at parking lots which are further away from the airport. These parking lots often include a shuttle bus transfer to and from the airport.

Available parking options at airports

1. Terminal Parking

Don’t want to walk too far to the terminal? Park close to the terminal. This option is called Terminal Parking. You park your car in a parking garage or a parking lot of the airport, the official parking places. Usually, the parking spaces are not cheap. The prices are higher because these parking places have the most favourable location.

2. Shuttle Parking

Do you want to choose your own parking space? Then Shuttle Parking is a good choice. You will be driven by shuttle bus from your parking spot to the departure hall. When you return to the airport, the shuttle bus is ready to take you to back to your parking place. In some cases, you can get help with the loading and unloading of your suitcases.

3. Valet Parking

At Valet Parking you drive to the departure hall of the airport, after which an employee will take your car and drives it to a parking spot. This has the advantage that you do not have to look for a parking space yourself. Besides, you don’t have to walk with your (heavy) luggage. Valet Parking is an excellent way to start your holiday or business trip entirely stress-free. When you return to the airport, a driver is waiting for you at the arrival hall with your car.

4. Park, Sleep & Fly

If you choose Park, Sleep & Fly, you spend the night in a hotel close to the airport. You will be transferred with a shuttle bus to the airport the next morning. This has the advantage that you will be fully rested when you board the plane. Moreover, you do not have to worry about traffic jams, and it’s an ideal option if you have to leave early in the morning or in the middle of the night. You park your car at the hotel, and the car stays there until the moment you return.

5. Short Parking

Short Parking is the perfect parking option if you’re dropped off at the airport by friends or family. It is also called Kiss & Ride. There are various parking places reserved for short parking at the airports, which are always located near the departure hall. The short-term parking places cannot be used to pick up travellers.
