General information

Porto Alegre is the capital of the southernmost state in Brazil: Rio Grande do Sul. This Brazilian state borders the neighbouring countries of Uruguay and Argentina. Porto Alegre has two terminals (T1 and T2) and a runway of 3,200 metres. The cities of Porto Alegre (1.5 million inhabitants), Canoas, Gravataí, São Leopoldo and Novo Hamburgo are a short distance from the airport. Novotel Porto Alegre Airport and ibis Porto Alegre Aeroporto are two hotels within walking distance of Terminal 1. Like Fortaleza Airport, the airport is operated by Fraport Brasil.

The airport is located in the north of the city. By car, you can reach Porto Alegre Airport via Avenida dos Estados. Arena do Grêmio, Grêmio’s football stadium, is located a short distance from the airport.

How many terminals does Porto Alegre Airport have?

The airport has two terminals, known as Terminal 1 (opened in 2001) and Terminal 2. Currently, all flights are operated from the modern Terminal 1. Terminal 1 at Porto Alegre Airport consists of three floors: Level 1 Arrivals, Level 2 Check-In and Level 3 Departures.
