Queenstown Airport is the second busiest airport on the South Island, after Christchurch Airport. The airport is mainly used for international flights to Australia, Queenstown – Sydney is the most popular connection. Queenstown Airport is next to Milford Sound Airport, one of the closest airports to the beautiful Milford Sound in Fiordland National Park. The airport plays an important role in the local economy and is New Zealand’s busiest helicopter airport. Besides, the airport is known for having one of the most scenic approaches in the world.

Queenstown Airport is located east of the city of Queenstown. You can reach the airport from Queenstown by taking State Highway 6A (Frankton Road).

Queenstown Airport has one terminal building. All facilities, except the airport lounges, are located on the ground floor. The check-in counters are located on the left, the Arrivals hall on the right and the Departures hall (security check) in the middle. The airport has a total of 9 boarding gates.
