Rome Fiumicino Airport, also known as Leonardo da Vinci International Airport, is situated in the municipality of Fiumicino, near the Tyrrhenian Sea. It is the largest and busiest airport in Italy and the main hub for ITA Airways and Vueling (together with Barcelona Airport). The second largest airport in Rome is Ciampino Airport southeast of the city.

The airport is located west of the city and easily accessible via the Autostrada A91 Roma-Fiumicino. The airport is well signposted along the way.
How many terminals does Rome Fiumicino Airport have?
Rome Fiumicino Airport has three terminals known as Terminal 1, Terminal 3 and Terminal 5 (currently closed). Terminal 1 consists of a main building and three piers/concourses (A1-10, A21-27, A31-59), Terminal 3 has four boarding areas (E1-8, E11-24, E31-44, E51-52). Gates E31 – E44 can be reached with an automated people mover called SkyBrigde from Terminal 3. In the public part of the terminals you will find Arrivals on the ground floor and Departures (check-in desks) on the first floor. The airport’s railway station and car hire offices can be reached via the second floor, there is a footbridge from T1 and a footbridge from T3.
TIP: Many well-known museums, sights and attractions require online reservations. If you plan to visit St. Peter’s Basilica, the Colosseum and the Vatican Museums (+ Sistine Chapel) during your stay in Rome, the convenient Rome Tourist Card is highly recommended!
