Bus to Salzburg

The city centre and railway station of Salzburg are easily accessible by public transport. Two trolley buses run to and from the airport, operated by Obus or ‘Oberleitungsbus’. Obus line 2 (direction Gnigl) takes you in 25 minutes to Salzburg Hauptbahnhof, Obus line 10 (direction Sam) needs 20 minutes to take passengers to Salzburg Rathaus in the Old Town of Salzburg. The trolley buses leave every 10 to 20 minutes from the airport, on Sundays and holidays the buses run less frequently.

Bus tickets
The price of a ticket for the bus is € 2.10 if you buy it in advance and € 3.00 if you buy it directly from the bus driver. However, tickets in presale can be purchased only by five (Abgabe nur im 5er-Block). A day ticket valid for 24 hours costs € 4.50 in advance and € 6.40 from the bus driver. At the airport, you can buy tickets at the Kiosk / Newscorner, open daily from 07:00 hours to 19:00 hours. SalzburgMobil is a handy app that you can use for route planning and ticket purchase. Salzburg Card
If you want to visit the sights in Salzburg and use public transport in the city, then the Salzburg Card is a must. This card gives you access to, among other things, Mozart’s Residence, Mozart’s Birthplace, a panorama boat and the cable cars to the caste of Hohensalzburg and Untersberg, besides public transport is free. You can buy the Salzburg Card for 24 hours, 48 hours and 72 hours, also the bus ride to and from Salzburg Airport is included in the rate.
