The airport is the seventh busiest airport in the United States based on passenger numbers (52.3 million in 2024), consisting of four terminals and four runways. San Francisco Airport is mainly used by United Airlines and Alaska Airlines. San Francisco Bay Area has two more large airports, namely San Jose International Airport (11.8 million passengers in 2024) and Oakland International Airport (10.8 million passengers in 2024).

San Francisco Airport is located in the San Francisco Bay Area south of San Francisco and northwest of San Jose. The airport is accessible by car via the Interstate 101 highway.

How many terminals does San Francisco Airport have?

The airport has four terminals and seven concourses. The airport’s terminals form a circle, in the south Harvey Milk Terminal 1 (Concourse B and C), in the east Terminal 2 (Concourse D), in the north Terminal 3 (Concourse E and F) and in the west International Terminal (Concourse A and G). The AirTrain automated people movers Blue Line and Red Line connect the terminals, the parking garages, the BART Station and the Rental Car Center (Blue Line only). AirTrain departures are as frequent as every 4 minutes, you can use the service for free.
