San José Juan Santamaría Airport is Costa Rica’s busiest airport, named after the national hero Juan Santamaría. The airport has two terminals and one runway, and is located a short distance from San José, Alajuela, Heredia and Cartago, the four largest cities in the country. San José Juan Santamaría Airport (5.2 million passengers in 2019) is the busiest airport in Central America after Panama City Tocumen Airport (16.6 million passengers in 2019).

How many terminals does San José Juan Santamaría Airport have?

San José Juan Santamaría Airport has two terminals, namely Main Terminal and Domestic Terminal. All international flights depart from Main Terminal. On the ground floor of the international terminal, you will find the check-in desks on the right and the security check on the left. Terminal Domestica – SJO is reserved for domestic flights operated by Sansa Airlines and Costa Rica Green Airways with smaller aircraft. The terminals are not interconnected, but the walking distance is only 5 minutes.
