Santiago de Compostela Airport is the largest airport in northwestern Spain, two other airports in the autonomous region of Galicia are A Coruña Airport and Vigo Airport. The airport is named after Rosalía de Castro (1837 – 1885), a writer and poet from Galicia. Many flights to and from Santiago are operated by Vueling and Ryanair, the airport has one terminal and one runway. Santiago de Compostela is known as a place of pilgrimage and the end of the Way of Saint James, many pilgrims walk to the city and fly back. It used to be possible to travel to and from the airport by Empresa Freire (Santiago de Compostela, Lugo) and Travidi (A Coruña), these bus operators are no longer active at the airport.

The airport is located to the east of the city and is easily accessible via the Autovía A-54 (Autovía del Aeropuerto) and Autopista AP-9 (Autoestrada do Atlántico).
