Sarajevo Airport was reopened in 1996 and has been growing ever since, the airport handled 1.3 million passengers in 2023. One of the places of interest in Sarajevo is located below the airport runway, namely the Sarajevo War Tunnel. During the siege of Sarajevo, the tunnel between the neighbourhoods of Dobrinja and Butmir played an important role.
