Shanghai Hongqiao Airport is one of three airports serving Shanghai, the other two airports are Shanghai Pudong Airport and Hangzhou Xiaoshan Airport. Shanghai Hongqiao Airport is located closest to the city centre (Huangpu District). The airport consists of two runways and two terminals (T1 and T2) and is mainly used for domestic flights. Shanghai Hongqiao railway station is located opposite Terminal 2, it is one of the biggest railway stations in Shanghai and part of Shanghai Hongqiao Transportation Hub.

There are two terminals at the airport. Terminal 1 is located east of the runways, Terminal 2 is located west of the runways. The terminals at Shanghai Hongqiao Airport are not within walking distance of each other. If you want to go from one terminal to another you can use the free shuttle bus service, the metro or a taxi. Opened in 2010, Terminal 2 is about four times the size of Terminal 1.
