Siem Reap in Cambodia is known as the closest city to the temples of Angkor, also called the eighth wonder of the world. The city is used as a base by tourists, in Siem Reap you will find many hotels, resorts, restaurants and bars. Siem Reap Angkor Airport is a new airport opened in October 2023. It replaced the former, yet perfectly functioning, Siem Reap Airport. Siem Reap Airport was located a short distance from the temples of Angkor and therefore had to close. The new airport is 45 kilometres / 28 miles from Siem Reap and 51 kilometres / 31.7 miles from Angkor Wat. Cambodia has two major international airports, the other airport is Techo International Airport near the capital of Cambodia (Phnom Penh).
Where is Siem Reap Angkor Airport situated?
The airport in Siem Reap Province is located east of Siem Reap and Angkor Wat, about halfway between Svay Leu and Damdek. From Siem Reap, the airport is accessible via National Road 6 and Siem Reap New Airport Road. A historical landmark close to the airport is Prasat Beng Mealea, more than worth a visit.

Siem Reap Angkor Airport has a very modern terminal. The Arrivals hall is located on the ground floor, the check-in desks and security check can be found on the upper floor. After security, you will find shops, restaurants, the boarding gates (South Pier 01-03, North Pier 04-06, East Pier 07-23) and the Golden Bayon Monument.
