Slovenia
In the centre of Europe lies the small and mountainous country of Slovenia. The country has been independent since 1991, before it was part of the former Yugoslavia. By joining the European Union in 2004 and joining the eurozone in 2007, the country has become more popular among European tourists. While Italy has the shape of a boot, Slovenia has the form of a chicken according to its residents, with the beak at the top right. The capital of the country is Ljubljana. This is a small city with about 300,000 inhabitants and the character of a village. The only Slovenian airport that is used for commercial flights is Ljubljana Airport which is located just north of the capital. Beautiful places to visit in Slovenia are Lake Bled, Lake Bohinj and the Postojna Caves.
