The airport is located southwest of the city in the municipality of Sola. The E39 motorway is close to the airport, Stavanger Airport is well signposted along this road.

Stavanger Airport has two terminals, one for airplanes and one for helicopters. The terminal for passenger flights is modern and well-arranged, the northern part of the terminal (boarding gates 19 – 24) was opened in 2009.
