Tokyo Haneda Airport, also known as Tokyo International Airport, is the largest airport in Japan and one of the busiest airports in the world. It serves as the primary base of Japan Airlines (JAL) and All Nippon Airways (ANA). The airport has four runways and three terminals. Tokyo Haneda Airport has a more convenient location than Tokyo Narita Airport, it other words it’s closer to the city centre.
You can reach the city centre by train (Keikyu Line), monorail, bus and taxi. In addition to three stations for the monorail, you will also find two railway stations at the airport. One train station is located between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, the other train station can be found at Terminal 3.
Where is Tokyo Haneda Airport situated?
The airport is located on an island south of the city centre, by car it’s accessible through the busy Shuto Expressway Bayshore Route. Other cities like Kawasaki and Yokohama are situated southwest of the airport, both are pretty close.
How many terminals does Tokyo Haneda Airport have?
The airport consists of three terminals known as T1 (opened in 1993), T2 (opened in 2004) and T3 (opened in 2010). Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 are located opposite of each other, while Terminal 3 is too far to walk from T1 and T2. For travelling between the terminals you can use the monorail or shuttle bus. You have to pay for the monorail, the shuttle buses can be used for free. Shuttle buses depart every 4 tot 8 minutes between 05:00 hours and 00:00 hours, check Free Shuttle Bus. Terminal 3 serves most international flights to/from the airport.
Opposite International Terminal 3 you can find shopping center Haneda Airport Gardens, where you can shop, have lunch and dinner. There are two hotels located here, namely Hotel Villa Fontaine Premier Haneda Airport and Hotel Villa Fontaine Grand Haneda Airport. From the terminal, it’s only a few minutes walking via a covered footbridge.
