Turkey

The vast majority of Turkey is located on the Asian continent, only a small part on the European continent. Exactly on the border of Europe and Asia you can find Istanbul, the most populous city in Turkey and home to football clubs Galatasaray, Besiktas and Fenerbahce. Istanbul has 17 million inhabitants and two airports, Istanbul Airport in the European part and Istanbul Sabiha Gökcen Airport in the Asian part. Istanbul New Airport is the primary passenger airport serving Istanbul since 6 April 2019, Istanbul Atatürk Airport closed its doors that day. Istanbul Airport has a favourable location in the middle of Europe, Asia, Africa and serves as the main hub for flag carrier Turkish Airlines. The capital Ankara is little visited by tourists, in contrast to the Turkish coastal towns such as Antalya, Alanya, Bodrum and Marmaris. Here you can find useful information about the most important Turkish airports.
