I was departing to Singapore on 28 December. I had approached the counter staff where it says customer service. The Woman there was so damn rude. Totally ignored me whilst I was infront of her and was engaging in conversations with various staff. The amazing part was that the people who were talking to her 1 by 1 were also ignoring me, instead of attending me. The best part was that they were engaging in private conversations. I said excuse me and she rudely told me to wait. After 5 minutes, she acknowledges me and was rude when I told her my mum needs to eat coz she's diabetic. She was like if you chose to go then your mum can walk all the way to the plane. What kind of person says that? No empathy? If you wish to employ such staff in an international airport, please sack them as they lack empathy and have no proper training to be customer service staff. Just go home and engage in private conversations. Makes travellers look down on Melbourne with such staff. Disappointing and disgusting. Melbourne airport feedback keeps closing the case without even reading the feedback. Within minutes.
The worst airport service I have ever experienced. I cannot believe Australia would want to expose this terrible impression to visitors from other parts of the world!!!
We arrived after a 7 hour flight via Jet Star which in a word was “degrading.” we were arriving internationally and catching a flight home to Brisbane.
We departed the terminal and headed to the security passport queues. There was a woman shouting “if you have a digital e passport card, go through…”we didn’t really understand what she was talking about as all passports were e passports these days. But like good citizens, we stood and waited while our queue didn’t move for half an hour as we watched other people running through the duty free shop and leave from another exit. We queried this with her and also with another chap wearing an ID badge; he ran off some where else and ignored us then the woman said ”why don’t you get a job here then, if you could do better!!!!” Great!
We remarked again that other people exiting via the duty free shop were skipping the queues and she goes off, shouting “I heard you! I heard you!!!” I told her we had stood waiting patiently for over half ann hour and hadn’t moved.
We left the queue and managed to get through the terrible system in operation, where it appears if you do the right thing and wait you could still be in the queue today still waiting!
Abysmal!!! The management need to address this as a matter of urgency.
Cold customer experience and then our bags delayed at the conveyer belt. Not a great impression or welcome for visitors coming to Australia after our amazing travel experiences throughout, Italy, UK, Scotland and Singapore. Melbourne airport up your game!
The service is horrible here. I have been waiting my luggage for one hour. I don’t know how long it will take. I thought Melbourne airport is a big international airport. Obviously I am wrong. This is the first time I had spent more than one hour to wait for the luggage in anywhere in the world. Very impressive.
We have really bad experience more than 3 times for claiming GST, in Melbourne Airport Terminal 2. Australia have to learn from Singapore or Thailand, how to make a friendly way about claiming GST.
They put the GST Refund room in arrival area, we cant reach them usung travelator while they want to randomcheck every item we buy, so we have to look for the lift and its a dull lift that take quite a long time (evenmore if they have quequeing)
And they did not helpful towards tourist, and more tourist like rejected and some more feel like it is just a waste of time claiming GST
They have lack of directories so many people get lost looking for directions
Can’t for the life of me understand why all messages are first said in Chinese? Is English not good enough now?
Security is becoming a nauseating exhausting and an unpleasant experience.
Surely by now the machines can be uniform in airports so that there is some consistency.
AI has progressed significantly to have made security a pleasant quick necessary evil.
Melbourne Airport is making travel an unpleasant experience.
Went through T3 departures at Melbourne Airport today, bag was flagged but no staff member there to assist with clearing bag, seems like it was break time, after a while the person manning the x-ray machine got up and spoke to another team member re break times etc, meanwhile bags going through the unmanned x-ray machine, eventually someone came to check the bag, just put it through the machine again and it went through with no issues, why di they not just appoint more staff to do the work in stead of having everything go pear shaped when people go on breaks, also not very secure if no one is watching x-ray machine, very disappointed to see things becoming like a 3rd world country
I recently travelled through Melbourne Airport, and my knee replacement set off the alarm. The border force officer was extremely rude and every other member of staff in other airports , there was no problem as staff obviously ca.e across this before, and let me pass through the body scanner no problem, however just to be an ass , I was then subjected to a full body scan which he took his time with, it seemed he was trying to annoy me . As I was walking away I could swear he said idiot under his breath. . I couldn't see a name badge but he was a fat guy with a poor excuse for a goatee beard ..
I have travelled to Australia from Scotland since 2003 and if I could find another way to get to Melbourne I would take it customer service has not improved 1 bit
In the third world, I have encountered airports as bad as this one. But they have a good excuse. There is no excuse for an airport this terrible for a city as great as Melbourne. Tired, dirty, cramped, uncomfortable, terrible food, no shopping, ugly, dull, I’ll-tempered staff.
The worst airport i transited through after Cochin (India). I cannot believe such airports exist and dare calling themselves international ! It is 2am. I am roaming the airport entrance for a place to seat or sleep after trying to do so on a wooden bench by the airport entrance door. Cold and the other lady trying to do the same wanting to call her family at 1.15am i had to move to try desperately to close my eyes a bit. This is the worst customer experience you can imagine. You wonder if these people have ever benchmarked against Singapore, Qatar or Dubai ! I landed at 930pm. At 10pm there was barely any restaurant opened. Just one sandwich place where nothing was below 15 aud or macdonald s opened 24/7 in a strange corner. I tried to find the information desk. Couldnt find it. A map? Too much to ask. Finally asked the welcome desk what to do as customs told me i couldnt enter the airport lounge and sleep there for my flight at 6.30am. I asked what do we do? Find a seat in the airport entrance i was told. The welcome desk said there is a hotel this side. Sure for 6hours i will pay 400 aud ! No safety for single female traveller. People sleeping on the floor trying to find some quiet space. Not a single coffee shop except that macdonald s from the 80s with blinding lampshades.what is this for a joke???? All restaurants barricade themselves with gates at night knowing damn well people sleep on the floor but noone cares ! Families with kids sleep where they can waiting for their connections in the morning. Simply appalling and disgraceful. Tourism is supposed to be the industry listening to clients the most. Here they simply didnt get the point at all and deserve to be boycotted. Such a let down for auch a supposed modern city !
I've had a knee replacement and am treated like a criminal! I've travelled the world without any problems but at Tullamarine I feel humiliated...
Booked assistance for my husband who can't walk very far, although someone was there to assist us and take us to departure gate we were not allowed to browse duty free as a couple (as able bodied people are allowed) my husband was taken to straight to departure gate by assistant and I was told I could go to duty free on my own ,although we had more than 3 hours before our flight departure to dubai.
This made the duty free experience for myself really stressful as I was worried I had lost my husband, think you need to take a leaf out of Glasgow Airport disabled assistance as we have used them many times as you get more of a personal service
